This old dear has been through the wars! Lets hope its severe pruning will bring it back to life. I am not sure about the top but the lower half definitely shows signs of regrowth. I have some photos of this park dated 1904 and although it is very hard to identify each tree I imagine that this is one of the small saplings in those pictures. It is now about 3ft in diameter.
The late afternoon sunlight was glorious but it was very cold and I couldn't wait to get home and put the heating on.
