Chitting nicely.

Now, this doesn't look very exciting but it is. These are some of the seed potatoes that I bought last Saturday at the Bridgend Potato Fair and they are already starting to sprout or 'chit'.

Chitting is just the method of encouraging potatoes to develop strong, healthy shoots ready for planting from mid March to April and involves standing them in a light, cool (but frost free) place.

Next job, is to prepare the beds and dig in lots of compost and well rotted manure.
