Weathered

I often walk up to this tree, growing from amongst the grikes on Orton Scar, I'd be surprised if it doesn't feature again this year. I'm always drawn to how its the only real feature that's managed to survive more than a few inches off the ground - the weather has shaped it & challenged it - but somehow, against the odds, it's clung on and grown tall.
To get up to the tree is probably a 40 minute walk from our house - and yet sat on the limestone pavement looking over to the Howgills with their faint dusting of snow, it seems a world away from the roads, and farms, the village visible only by Orton Church's once white now green tower - it's an easy return to solitude & tranquillity. Today as we walked Pooch we were amazed by the volume of the bird calls on the moorland - everywhere it seems Spring is bursting back into life.
