Elfi's Hellebores

I have a great number of Hellebores from the garden of Elfi Rahr. Elfi raised a huge number of of these plants in her Bellevue garden for over 25 years and was a major supplier of seeds. One of her goals was to breed blossoms which were less shy about showing their faces.

Walking through the typical garden of these flowers is punctuated by the backs rather than the fronts of the nodding blossoms and you end up stooping down and lifting them up to see the pretty markings. Here is one of her plants which shows how successful she was in lifting the little faces of her beloved flowers up to greet the viewer.
