Emergent Leaves

What with the plethora of rhododendrons, hellebores, euphorbias and the other wonderful early spring flowers that are beginning to flower, it’s easy to completely miss the more mundane advent of leaves on the trees and bushes in the garden. Today, armed with camera in hand, nourished by the first truly sunny day in a long time, I walked past a small climbing rose along the side of the driveway and was taken aback by the beauty of the emerging leaves. Later, when looking through today’s garden pictures on my computer, the crocus and narcissus went by the wayside in favor of this pretty little bunch of new rose leaves.
