This is What Democracy Looks Like

We went to Washington with JD to support his decision to participate in a civil disobedience action to protest the Keystone XL Pipeline, urging President Obama to do the right thing and deny the extension of the pipeline. Nearly 400 students were arrested. As we watched, we had so many emotions:proud that he cares so much about this world and is willing to do whatever he can to make his voice heard... and worry that one day he may have to pay a higher price than expected for having done so. It was gratifying to see so many young people participating in the demonstration. I'm worried that our President won't heed their call, and hopeful that he will.
