A Time To Plant

'To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.'
And my purpose this afternoon, under a clear sky that held the promise of warmer weather on the way, was to plant out the herbs I bought last week at the garden centre - parsley, sage, oregano and thyme. The rosemary bush is a bit woody, but looks good for a while yet; the bay trees are thriving; the chervil continues to flourish against all odds. So my culinary needs are pretty well provided for. And when the season advances a bit further, it will be time to stock up on sorrel and lovage - essentials in English herb gardens down the ages.
