Vote!

Things are hotting up on campus in the run-up to the UEA Student Union elections. The Square is looking resplendent as it is decorated with bedsheets promoting the various candidates and flyers are stuck everywhere, giving further details of what Holly, Molly, Ben, Bee, Jon et al will do if they are elected.

It got me thinking, as I was lolling about under a tree enjoying the sun at lunchtime:

about what the thoughts were of these young adults about whether or not it was worth voting in governmental elections.

about whether any of them, if elected, would go on to a career in politics.

And about the path that a 16-year old school leaver took, to end up as a force to be reckoned with as leader of the RMT Union, who died yesterday of a heart attack aged just 52. I heard Bob Crow speak at the Burston Strike school rally last year. He certainly had a hell of a presence.
