Life through the lens...

A walk in the park.

Roundhay Park, Leeds.

What a perfect day for a walk in the park.

We always go at this time of year to see the crocus, and they certainly didn't disappoint.

Last year they were spoilt with the snow!
Can you believe it.
Today it was like summer! 18c plus hotter in the sun.

We had a lovely walk round.
Birds singing, sun shining, everyone smiling!

Had lunch at the Mansion House, sat outside. ( Just managed to get a table, as everyone else had the same idea.)
A delicious Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.( Huge portion, but just managed to finish it!)

The Mansion House was built between 1811 - 1826 by Thomas Nicholson.
It was sold to The City of Leeds, along with the park ( all 700 acres!) in 1872.
It was leased by the Council as a hotel and restaurant.
( We went to my cousin's wedding reception there in the 1970's)
It closed in 2004.
Then in 2007 the rear wings were opened again after an 8 million pound refurbishment, as an Education and Visitor Centre, and offices for park staff.
In August 2oo9 Leeds based Dine catering reopened the café and function rooms, after substantial refurbishment.

Someone told us today that this weather was going to last another 10 days!
I do hope so!
