Silver birch has a searching eye
Eyeing up the passers-by

Passers buy their petrol here
Here where town and country meet

Mete out petrol from the pumps
Pumps and plimsoles on their feet:

Feet, legs, arms, trunk
Trunk of tree, the silver birch

Birch that has a searching eye
Eyeing up the passers-by.
