Ann with a dog fish

I went to the cafe to help prepare for an event tomorrow and found Ann our scavenger surplus food procurer par excellence proudly showing off the dog fish she had found on the beach. It was fresh and appeared to have been hit by a boat, perhaps.

She was planning to prepare it for supper, or at least for the cat's supper. I was rather envious.

Dog fish (which is actually a member of the shark family) is sometimes sold as huss in fish and chip shops.

The tricky part is getting the skin off apparently. It requires a special technique but I am sure that for a former midwife like Ann, it can't be that much more challenging than a breech birth.
