Looking across the Lagan, Belfast

This shot across the Lagan looks out towards the Titanic Quarter, a major new development around the area where the Titanic was built. In the distance, you can see part of one of the famous Harland and Wolfe cranes.

Although the River Lagan is Belfast's most important river, the name Belfast originates from the Irish Béal Feirste, or the mouth of the Farset, the river on which the city was built and which flows into the Lagan.

I was headed for a meeting with a colleague and friend at Belfast Metropolitan College in its new centre in the Titanic Quarter.
