Meal by candlelight

We went for lunch today to The Linton Hotel in East Linton, a regular watering hole of ours. I was struck by the effectiveness of their lighting scheme in a room that receives no natural lighting - tea lights in fairly plain lanterns. As there are no draughts the tea lights burn without any flicker and give the room a nice overall ambience. The lanterns are of different sizes and are set out in an irregular pattern and my blip shows just a sample of the lighting.

After a blow out over lunch we suffered a fairly searing afternoon of rugby watching Scotland being skittled over and the France/Ireland match having a nail-biting ebbs and flows and even a searing final couple of minutes. Having been an anglicised Scot who has lived up here for over half my life I tend to be a rabid Scotland supporter but wanted Ireland to win for O’Driscoll and, of course, to get one over the English !
