Today I was invited to be the guest of fellow blipper 'barryboy' for a tour of the Auchentoshan Distillery.

His words sum it up...

'I did the 'ultimate' Auchentoshan distillery tour this afternoon. Won't say how much it cost as bought tickets for charity. The tour certainly lived up to its title. Our guide, Darren, cracked open this 1965 Bowmore - i.e. the good old days before England won the World Cup - which now sells for between £5,500 and £7,200 a bottle. Had a glass and well worth it. Tasted like piña colada. If you don't believe the price then check it out below. Brilliant day. '

Suspended in the whisky, if you look closely, you'll see 'hairs' from the wood in the barrel. We were allow to fill our own bottles directly from the barrel using a device known as a valinch to draw the golden nectar directly from the cask with no filtration.

Suffice to say the whisky and company was exceptionally good yesterday!
