Who pays the Ferryman?

Joe & I went 'cruising on the Clyde' today. We took the Renfrew/Yoker Ferry across the Clyde and back again. Each crossing took about 1 minute.

I used to do the same journey with my dad when I was a wee boy. We'd drive to Renfrew, buy an ice cream at Issy's Cafe and cross the river backwards and forwards for ages. I never wanted to get off. 'One more time' I'd say 'Just one more time'.

You see in those days you only paid the flat fair when you exited the ferry. So you could stay on there all day long and you'd still just pay the same fare!

These days you pay per journey so we called it a day at a fiver for the return trip.
