Just need to survive

the second & final day of wind. Hoped for rain didn't materialise and forecast is for sun most of next week. Luna enjoyed her walk over the fields today as the slurry hasn't been washed in to the grassand thus makes for wonderful perfumed rolling possibilities. What beautiful odours!

She did haveto do some work keeping an eye out for any birds of prey. She chases away the ravens when they come to take the chicken feed, downside of this is that the ravens are in turn good watchdogs as far as birds of prey go as they usually sound an alarm. Angie had put up some nets over the open chicken run last Sunday before we realised the kites had turned up. However as the chickens spend most of the day roaming over the fields and around the house, the nets provide little safety. Since the kites appeared, the daily killing of the chickens stopped and since last Sunday, not a sight of harriers and no losses. Time to pack up the nets particularly as there is a danger of catching one of the small wild birds - sparrows, tits etc.
