Between fen and mountains

Assembly

This is a mechanism from a standard French striking clock c1870. I like these as they rarely have anything seriously wrong with them, they were so well made in the first place. All the gear wheels have to line up in a particular way to ensure the strike works correctly. The fun bit is putting the top plate on as all the arbors have to go into the correct holes without breaking any of them! This is a very delicate operation and takes a lot of practice. A bit frustrating at work today as I disassembled several difficult watches only to find they were unrepairable so I just had to reassemble them and hand them back! You win some and you lose some!
