How Many Super Heroes Can You Spot?

Back blipped on 20/03/2014.

Our second day in the Rhône-Alpes began for a few of us with weary eyes & slightly sore heads. That'll be what a casino does for you!

Nevertheless, after a hearty & French pasty rich breakfast, we made our way up the mountains for another fantastic day of skiing. Saturday was predicted to be a quieter day due to it being the normal change-over day for most chalets & hotels, & we weren't disappointed. It felt like we largely had the run of the slopes, taking it easy first thing this morning on some lovely, sweeping greens & blues. The skies weren't as clear today & a little haze hung in the air. One of our number, Jon, did take a fall on the slope. Although he was wearing his helmet which did take the brunt of the crash to the floor, his glasses on the other hand did take a minor dig at his nose, which inevitably meant the blood did flow & create a bit of scene on the white snow. Drama over, we retired for a celebratory lunch at one of our favourite mountain side restaurants.

With it being Hayden's 72nd Birthday (I know, crazy right!), we had a slap up lunch for the nine of us, which rather strangely & still we don't know why, consisted of 11 bowls of goulash (delicious by the way!), 6 baguettes & 6 beers, amongst other refreshments. Geoff admits he did order 11 instead of 9 goulash, for some reason, but no one will own up to the 6 beers that were delivered compared to the 2 that were ordered. It was wicked & very satisfying nonetheless.

Bandaged up, Jon retired from the mountain for the day, half the group went for a slightly more leisurely afternoon, while the rest of, including dad, made for the snow park & the snow cross course. Ride on! It was so good. We did jumps, getting air, rails, undulating hills, & the course, which I have to say was my favourite, was such a thrill - a start gate, sharp turns, big rollers, jumps - amazing!

What a fun day & as it turned out, another fun night. After dinner, we made for Bride les Bains central & all enjoyed a beer at one of the local bars. After which, somewhat predictably, a select few of us made for the casino once again, take two! This time, we were joined by a number of the dads - Scott's dad Jon & my Dad, Dad! It was a hell of a lot busier that the night before, poker appearing to where the big money was - 5,000 euro chips appearing on a number of the tables. But after a little dabble on the blackjack table for Dad, rather unsuccessfully, we all made for the roulette table. To sum it up, we all ended up with less than we'd started with, surprise surprise (taking me to 2 euros down for the weekend - gutted!), except for Dad, who came out with 100 euros, 60 euros up for the night! What a shark!

A fantastic night & a wonderful Saturday's shoop shoop!

And I can count 2 official superheroes - Robin & Superman. That's exluding SuperDad, a crocodile & a chicken!
