Sgwarnog: In the Field

Tufted

I was up at the other campus for a teaching observation and had time for a quick circuit of the lake in the adjacent Lister Park. The resident waterfowl are a blip standby on dull days, but this female Rouen Clair, a domestic breed, was a new one on me. She seemed to take haircut inspiration from the nearby Tufted Ducks. Another unusual one on the lake today was what seemed to be a Black East Indian duck.

The Rouen Clair and Black East Indian are not on the British list, so are not as yet considered "wild," but presumably if they continue to roam free for long enough they might be in the future.
