Heads It Is

Coin tossed to decide what chilly corner of the Forth Valley we'd travel to today - heads; Falkirk, tails; Stirling. Heads it was.

Baltic it was too, with a dusting of fresh snow covering Ben Cleuch in the background of this Kelpie shot. The Mrs decided it was too chilly to head out along the canal to the big horse's heads, after freezing our bits off despite a cup of tea and hot soup in the Helix Park's Mediterranean style open air cafe. I'm sure it'll be great for those half dozen or so days in July and August when the temperature's more suited to open air dining, but this afternoon our soup was cold before we finished it with the arctic chill blowing through.

Difficult to shoot these nowadays as they've been photographed from just about every available angle at some point (though, the maniac in the wee red car that stopped on the M9 motorway to take a pic must've got a slightly different perspective - unbelievable that's still happening) and there was a proper gaggle of snappers shouldering each other out of the way to try and get shots in during the half hour I was wandering around here.

Not long now though and we'll have access over the canal and maybe find some new ways to photograph the giant sculptures.
