Between the showers

Poetry Stone - March

A lovely spring day, between the showers! We set off in search of the March Poetry Stone. To get to it you have to walk to the January stone and cross over the bridge, walk along the old pathway to the February stone and then continue along an ancient ‘hollow way’ which has been used for hundreds of years and was probably the original main road between Kirkby Stephen and Nateby. Down at the bottom is a stream and a wooden bridge (well a plank of wood!).

The March Stone is actually in the stream as you can see here. This picture was taken from the bridge. There is supposed to be an engraving of stone-walling but there is no way of getting to it - I was not going through the water!!

From field
and fell
run cold
run small.
I am the rain
tear in the eye
blood in the vein
I am the sea.
