Forsythia 'Northern Gold'

Forsythia is a much maligned plant. I think it’s what happens when a plant is too common and too easy to grow, Yes, it is a short season when the plant is blooming (so plant it somewhere that isn’t a prime place in the garden). YES, it is THAT garish yellow (though, rarely does one hear the same decree against nodding daffodils in the field). In fact, it is festive to plant those big exuberant daffodils at this shrub’s feet. Think, how deprived late winter and early spring would be without this glorious blast of color on a sunny cold morning!
