Bullfinches

Pyrrhula pyrrhula.

A pair on the way back from my trip to the allotment. I've always been fond of these stout little birds, particularly because they're not shy, once you have spotted them.

Probably best viewed embiggened, but still not very much cop :(

Once again, I was thwarted in my plan to plant the broad beans. The ground was still stiff with frost, but I did some tidying up of dead plants and dug in a bit of compost.
Then a trip up to V&C to get coffee (500g of Continental high roast, ground at No.7) and a nice bottle of wine :)
