Our Little Log Cabin

Backblip from Paradise

This is our home for two nights, sleeps four, bathroom, kitchen, bunkroom and lounge/bedroom. No power, coal range to heat the water and the room. What can't be seen here is a lovely wee outdoor porch facing west along with the stunning views through to the mountains. We were very comfortable here, the other three couples were in two similar cabins - one a little bigger where we did our cooking (challenging) and socialising!!!!!!

We left Queenstown mid morning driving to Glenorchy which is the little settlement at the very top of Lake Wakatipu. The very necessary coffee and food intake stop at a cafe before six of the 10 set off to bike the 19 km up the valley to Paradise. A very bumpy corrugated hilly road but seeing the scenery surrounding us was incredible.

Once we got ourselves sorted, fed and watered four of us biked back to Glenorchy (tail nor west wind) to pick up our vehicles so we have all our bags and food goodies.

The evening meal was incredible once we got the cooking appliances working - we really loved sitting around the open fire enjoying the company; we do laugh a lot.

But as you do when out back without power, we were all tucked up in bed by 9.30 pm....you would think after biking 38km and a few bevies I'd fall asleep easily - NOT SO!!!!
