Anticipation

These tickets arrived during the week. They're to do with a ten-day break we're taking in France next month. Carl will be godfather for his nephew on Easter Sunday in Lyon, after which we move on to Montpelier, Collioure and Carcassonne.

I managed to get a ticket for a performance in Lyon's opera house, a building which I've only seen the public part of so far. Mind you, they're being a bit bold staging Britten's Curlew River as an 'opera', since it's one of the composer's Church Parables and only runs for a little over an hour. Still, it'll be great to see the inside of this wonderful building, and I'm really looking forward to the performance (I saw the work many years ago in St Paul's Cathedral in London, but this will be only the second time I'll see it live).

We fly out to Lyon on Holy Saturday and return from Carcassonne on Monday 28th April. All out travel while we're in France will be by train, and we've booked all our tickets online. Some of the tickets were electronic delivery, but this trip from Montpelier to Collioure didn't offer that option. Somehow, having the tickets in my sweaty little hand makes it all seem more real.
