King Alfonso plants a tree

In 1906 King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria of Spain were the guests of Lord and Lady Forbes-Leith at Fyvie Castle. During their stay King Alfonso planted a Noble Fir which has since grown into a magnificent specimen tree.

The King's full name was Alfonso León Fernando María Jaime Isidro Pascual Antonio de Borbón y Austria-Lorena. This probably explains why the canny Scots didn't go to the expense of making a plaque big enough to record it in its full glory!
