A Message from our Team, #TLC #Cambodia

Our local partner, the Lake Clinic, otherwise known as TLC, is a primary healthcare service which is taken by boat to floating villages on the vast Tonlé Sap Lake to the north-west of Cambodia. In 2013 our medical teams saw a total over 20 000 patients, of which more than 7, 000 were children.

Dr Jon Morgan, Director of The Lake Clinic in Cambodia sent us this update today;

"One recent night a young 22 year old man fell out of his boat after it struck a floating obstruction, and then he in turn was hit in the abdomen and head by another boat following just behind. Moments later he arrived at our floating clinic at about 8pm, shortly after the clinical staff had retired for the evening. After 45 minutes of intervention that included airway support—insertion of an artificial airway, suctioning and oxygen therapy—as well as IV fluid administration, he was transported to the nearest port, Kompong Khleang, where an ambulance called in from the Angkor Hospital for Children met him. Four hours later, from his arrival at TLC’s floating clinic in Moat Klas village, he was admitted to the Siem Reap Provincial Hospital.

The support we receive from our donors, plus the skill and training of TLC’s staff saved this young man’s life."

We are so grateful to everyone who supports IMPACT's work throughout the world - it is only through this kindness and generosity that we are able to continue with our life-changing work!
