And the Winner is!!

For the past four weeks CCN and I have been on somewhat of a Gourmet Travellers Tour. It's been wonderful really and we have been fortunate to visit many great restaurants along the way. Starting with La Scala in Griffith, Rigoni's and Andre's Cucina in Adelaide and Bistro Guillaume in Melbourne, just to name a few, they were all wonderful, but we had only one gold medal to give.

We decided we would vote on our favourite dish and after much soul searching and a lengthy elimination process we decided that the beef Bourguignon Pie with Carrot and Rosemary Puree, Roasted Chats and Parsley Liquor from THE BOND STORE, Southank is our outright favourite and wins the gold medal hands down! I can honestly say I have never tasted a Beef Pie like this one. I did glean a little information from the chef as to why the beef melted like butter, but it wouldn't be worth my life to publish it here!

Once again I have to give my Big Brother Al full credit. I have it on good authority that it's one of his favourite haunts when in Melbourne and we first went there on his recommendation. It was our absolute pleasure to return to the restaurant for lunch today just to make sure that we weren't making a major mistake. Guess what, it was better than the first time!!!

The restaurant/cafe is only open for brekkie and lunch. It's in an old Bond Store and has fabulous atmosphere. Apart from great food, we loved the staff, very friendly and happy to put up with a couple of old retirees.

We've had a fantastic time in Melbourne and the highlight had to be the frequent visits to see CCN's beautiful little grand daughters and her son and daughter-in-law. It will be sad to leave tomorrow, but we have lots of reasons to return in the not to distant future.
