I don't blame this water rail for hiding away - it's blowing a hooley out there, Le vent d'autan they call it - specific to this region of France and when it blows we know it.
It also comes in summer, when it is like being in front of a fan oven.

Today temperatures have been at around 13°c, whereas in the rest of France it is in the high 20's ... even in the Oise .... ;))

My plan - even though it was cunning, was never going to come off today, so that will be for a day sans wing - oh yeah, le vent d'autan blows for 3, 6 or 9 days and it always rains when it has finished - yeah!
