Manchester Royal Eye Hospital - ward 55

Something different today - my long deferred, second eye operation for cataracts. The first was done in 2010 and I seem to have been fighting for the second ever since (the NHS withdrew funding and going private was an expensive option so I hung on in until it had deteriorated sufficiently to make it doable without losing an arm and a leg too. Now sitting at home with a pirate's eyepatch - bandages come off tomorrow. God bless Radio 4 - doing anything else requiring vision is pretty much off for the rest of the day!
