Altocumulus Sky

There was a very unusual dawn this morning. I picked up young Joe and Ricky on the way to the Wither Hills Farm Park and we started off walking around 6.45am. The sky was lovely in the east with its vibrant reds, pinks and golds. Of course we captured images of the colour display but what intrigued us all later were the amazing clouds covering most of the sky. They gave rise to truly beautiful skies and we spent most of our time capturing images from all angles.
Then we had the problem of correctly identifying the cloud forms. This evening I downloaded an app onto my iPhone called “Types of Clouds”. It is a most helpful app and by checking through the galleries I was able to pin down the type of clouds in today’s blip….. Altocumulus.
