Maid in Wales

Underneath the Lamplight.

What a glorious day today. J cut the lawns this morning and then we went for a drive as far as Llangeinor, which is about 7-8m miles away. As we were passing the junction to turn into the village ,we spotted this miners lamp at the side of the road. The inscription reads:
This monument was erected by the Garw Valley Community Council on behalf of the Garw Valley Community in May 2012 as a memorial to all those who through accident, disaster or disease, lost their lives or otherwise suffered as a result of the mining industry of the South Wales Coalfield.
Llangeinor is also the birthplace of Richard Price, born on the 23rd February 1723. He was a moral philosopher, mathematician and a preacher. We have three of these miners lamps ,as they are an important part of our heritage.I would never part with them.
