The flight from Sydney to Dubai overnight was via Bangkok.

Unfortunately we left Sydney late as a result of - amongst other things -a torrential rain storm. Then we were delayed by another hour at Bangkok because three passengers had the "wrong documentation".

We were told en route by an announcement from the cockpit that connecting flights for a variety of destinations were being held at Dubai but that didn't happen so at 10.30am this morning instead of being half way to Glasgow I was sitting in the sun marvelling at the shades of green in a Dubai hotel garden.

Fortunately there were places on the afternoon flight though the whole thing has meant that the total time for the return trip was a mind boggling 44.5 hours
