Saddlebag

Walking by a lake this morning we saw quite a few of these huge dragonflies but with no hope of getting a flight shot as they were so very flighty buzzing and clattering, weaving at speed !

Quietly standing around and seeing where they landed it was a little easier to sneak up.
I've looked this up and it seems to be a black saddlebag dragonfly. Quite an impressive chap and I was really pleased to get this shot! Voracious mosquito eaters - it was no wonder they were here as even with loads of insect repellant I kept getting nibbled.
