Crookston Castle, Glasgow

My 'Historic Scotland' handbook for 2014 arrived while I was away on holiday and I decided that today might be a good one to visit a property I hadn't visited before. Crookston Castle is a ruin of a 15th century castle - probably better described as a tower-house - built on a site of an earlier, 12th century, castle.

It sits adjacent to a housing scheme on the south-west of Glasgow and Historic Scotland have built several sets of iron stairs within the property to allow one to climb up to the various levels of the extant building. Quite an interesting afternoon excursion when all's said and done.
