Laying on of Hands

The scene being played out this afternoon took place at the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton. We were invited to see the Revd Ricarda Witcombe being Licensed into her new role as Lead Chaplain of the George Eliot Hospital Chaplaincy.

This image shows a small group of people from the Chaplaincy Team, gathering around Ricarda for the Laying on of Hands, as Bishop Christopher of Coventry, Blesses the Ricarda into her new post.

This is one of those rare moment in the life of church where one can witness the church in action alongside the secular world of caring for the sick in our locality of Nuneaton. Ricarda comes into this position following on from the Revd Canon Edward Pogmore who retired just last week having completed almost 25 years building up this Chaplaincy Team that is seen as the model for hospital chaplaincy up and this country.
