People were walking past this fellow and no sign of movement. I managed to get a far clearer picture of a heron this time. What attracted my attention was the sight of a couple of herons landing on the trees in the island across the way. I got some shots but my iphone skills weren't up to the job.

A good day of meetings; over at the bigger job we're starting as soon as planning is happy, then a second meeting making sure everyone was up to speed on the little job we start on Sunday.

A little job but with every opportunity to go disastrously wrong. We have to work with the staff using the kitchen and the public using the loos - both right beside where we're working. We don't really know what we're going to find when we take down the walls - one looks like it's got loads of electric cables running through it.

And there's no room at all in the programme for any slippage; we have to hand back on Wednesday morning - they have anew menu launching on Thursday.

But on the plus side I walked down to the first meeting from the station positively bathed in scent from bushes and flowers in the beds beside me, and it's a chance to sit and do a bit of planning with Sam and Gareth in a relatively unpressured way - sometimes when we meet up on site it's so chaotic and fraught it's hard to enjoy their company

There's a mass of backblips to go up in the next few days if I can get the chance
