Lakes and Mountains

I (Annie) had a fabulous second day in Switzerland visiting friends. While A went out on his bike for a 70 mile ride, M and I headed out to see some of Switzerland's stunning scenery. We drove to the very beautiful Vitznau to park, and walked along the lake shore there. This was one of the first pictures of the day, as the clouds were still low and looming.

We caught a brilliant little red train up the Rigi peaks. Having gone from the hot sunshine (by then) at the bottom, we rounded a corner and went straight into winter. Banks of snow appeared, and we headed up into the cloud. Thankfully, we popped back out of the cloud at the summit, and had a peaceful hour wandering around the peak, watching death defying paragliders taking off, and playing hide and seek with the views of the other peaks in the clouds. Heading back down, we discussed where our "peaceful" places are - where you go to (even just in your head) to recharge. For me, it's the mountains; for M, it's the lakes. So today we had a a bit of both.

Finally it was time to head back to Zurich airport and home. It's amazingly easy to pop over there just for the weekend - I (or we) must do it again soon.
