Milford Sound, New Zealand

Today was a trip to Milford sound (which is not a sound, but a Fjord), originally named Milford Haven by the Welsh Captain John Grono around 1812, after his homeland in Wales. Because the rest of the fjords in that area had been called sounds, Captain John Lort Stokes renamed it Milford Sound.

We went there on the BBQ bus (http://www.milford.net.nz/) - excellent day out with Nick, 5 Chinese girls and a Kiwi BBQ.

Trip on the fjord itself was beautiful - cloudy day at the start and end, but blue skies at Milford.

The picture was taken looking out of the fjord towards the Tasman sea. As usual I have a polarising filter on the camera.
