Appealing birch tree

It has been the usual damp, moist, wet – delete as appropriate – day here and to be honest I had no desire to go hunting for a photograph for today's blip.
TywynSue is hosting a challenge called MonoMonday and today's theme is wood, so a quick visit to the bottom of the garden provided an image for the day and perhaps even the challenge.

This is the first time I've done one of these challenges and it may well be the last – I'll see what next Monday brings.
