Autumn Litter

The gardens are looking very messy at the moment. We are well into autumn and trees are starting to drop their leaves. As much as I love the Honey Locust tree (Gleditsia) beside the house I do resent the mess it makes at this time of the year. It is just about impossible to keep the area near the tree neat and tidy
I have a collection of paua shells on the old picnic table near the house. The leaves have fallen on and into the shells. Nevertheless despite the litter the shell are still beautiful with their rich colours and texture. Paua shells are used to make very lovely jewellery here in New Zealand. The colours remind me of the sea in all its moods with varying shades of blues and greens.
