return of the wood ducks...

...to my little lake

on a warm spring day

what a total surprise - an utter delight - who knew these little gems would actually return to this neck of the woods? do they do that? come back to their original haunting grounds? once they've nested - do they revisit - then in succeeding years - to renest - so to speak - i am assuming this is why they've come back - for it is that time of year - the other ducks - and geese have been frisky - i observed a set of geese - in a wonderful courtship dance - on the water - was tempted to post it - for it was a lovely thing to see - but i was too intrigued with the return of the wood ducks - they are so strikingly gorgeous - such rich, amazing colors - plus they tend to move rather quickly - so who knows when i might capture them again - the sun was also cooperating very well - making the lighting almost perfect - it seemed the thing to do - perhaps someone will be able to address the question about them returning - each year - for it's never happened before - yet now that it has - at least for this moment - it has indeed made for...
