Costa del Sol

After an early start and breakfast at Birmingham Airport we set of for an uneventful flight to Malaga arriving 11am, their time.

The next couple of hours were fairly stressful, having picked up our hire car at the airport, we tried to head east to Torre del Mar. We made a few wrong turns and doubling-back maneuvers as I tried to make head nor tail of the phone's satnav which was rapidly running out of battery. (It was much later I discovered the cigarette lighter hidden away under the dashboard).

Having finally arrived at Torre del Mar we spent some time trying to understand Spanish menus and finally getting a very respectable tuna mayo jacket potato with lots of olives. We then wandered down to the beach to have a look at the sea before facing the next leg of our journey inland to Vinuela to find our villa. As we had no map and no satnav this was very interesting.

So to cut a long, stressful story short(er) we finally met up with Ann and Colin's relatives and they guided us up a two mile narrow dirt track to Villa Enya sitting half way up a mountain overlooking Lake Vinuela. (When I say guided us I mean cousin Tony drove our hire car whilst Ann rode pillion on the back of Lindi's quad bike).

The villa is very roomy for the three of us, with magnificent views over the mountains and the lake from the terrace with the swimming pool and the roof terrace.

Now it is 9pm and I am absolutely shattered, Ann and Colin having already gone to bed. So here's Ann on said quad bike pretending to ride it, the track can be see half way up the hill to the left of the picture.
