Appuldurcombe Gateway

In need of some serious fresh air and exercise after two days mostly stuck indoors I parked the car in the honeypot village of Godshill. Quickly escaping the coach parties and families with fractious kids I was soon climbing the Stenbury Trail away from the tourist traps up onto the high ground with sweeping views all around.

High above the village of Wroxall is the shell of what was once the grandest house of the island-Appuldurcombe which I will blip on another occasion. The walking trail passes through the remains of this grand entrance gate to the house now a shadow of it's former splendour.
