Countless

This morning I attended Jaxon's school assembly, as schools close at the end of today for Easter, the school decided to honour the Anzacs early with a special ceremony, I have seen countless Anzac services and countless school assemblies everyone of them special in their own right, this mornings service however touched my heart, here is Jaxon reading out his speech about the Anzacs, the story of how they landed at Gallipoli in 1914.
I couldn't have been more proud of Jaxon at this moment, he put his heart and soul into his story, the young girl behind ready to tell her part.
The curtains behind held countless poppies the children had made, they even wore them with pride, his great grandad would have been proud too.
The last post was played the flag flew at half mast, the flowers were laid, after the minutes silence by students, teachers, parents, and grandparents, the flag was raised
The choir then sang this very special song.

I came from the dream-time, from the dusty red soil plains
I am the ancient heart, the keeper of the flame.
I stood upon the rocky shore, I watched the tall ships come.
For forty thousand years I’ve been the first Australian.

I came upon the prison ship, bowed down by iron chains.
I cleared the land, endured the lash and waited for the rains.
I’m a settler, I’m a farmer’s wife on a dry and barren run
A convict then a free man, I became Australian.

We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian

I’m the daughter of a digger who sought the mother lode
The girl became a woman on the long and dusty road
I’m a child of the depression, I saw the good times come
I’m a bushy, I’m a battler, I am Australian

I’m a teller of stories, I’m a singer of songs
I am Albert Namatjira, I paint the ghostly gums
I am Clancy on his horse, I’m Ned Kelly on the run
I’m the one who waltzed Matilda, I am Australian

We are one but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing in one voice
I am, you are we are all Australian.

ANZAC Day 25 April is probably Australia's most important national occasion. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

Shakespeare's invented word: Countless
I count my blessings everyday
