Birthday Dinner

I don't typically blip food photos, but this is a special occasion. Today is my husband's birthday, and he came up with a great plan to celebrate. He would book a great hotel for the two of us in Newport Beach, we would meet our daughter there for dinner, and he and I would have the next day to make our way home in a leisurely fashion.

As luck would have it, the traffic was easy driving up after my work day, and our room was lovely with a view of pool and courtyard. When our daughter arrived, we headed down to have dinner together. All the food (and drink) was good, but her entrée was the best. Cobia (a Panamanian white fish) with tempura crab stuffed squash blossoms on the right served with a nicoise relish. We shared octopus carpaccio as an appetizer and a trio of puddings for dessert.

Dinner was followed by a spell in the saltwater jacuzzi under the stars. It was a lovely birthday, and we think this may become our tradition for future celebrations.
