Their Spirits Gone Before Them

An installation by Laura Facey at the International Slavery Museum. This is a Jamaican cottonwood canoe, floating on sugar cane. Inside the canoe are hundreds of tiny figures, tightly packed together. The meaning is obvious but no less powerful for that.
