3.07 Remember the 96

I went to Bolton today to see my team, Barnsley lose again. However in common with all football played today it was timed to start at 3.07 as a mark of respect for the 96 who died at Hillsborough 25 years ago. That memory alone is a poignant one but given the recent revelations about the actions of the police on that day and the fact that families have still found little resolution from the legal proceedings it remains a blot on the landscape.

I still remember that day when I switched on the TV to see the confusions of that scene unfolding. It was a sad and wasteful loss of life. Today is a day to remember those 96.
