Ford Woodie

It is getting to the time of year when, especially on the weekend, there is usually something interesting to see in town. Today was the turn of the Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Association, who had two old buses and two vintage cars on display. I love old vehicles, so I stopped to take a few shots. I decided to use this one as my Blip as it's the most unusual vehicle.

It's a Ford Woodie, more formally known as a Ford V8 Shooting Brake, due to their popularity among owners of large country estates who used them on shooting parties. This is a 1937 model, with a 3.6L (30hp) V8 side valve engine. It has 3 gears, cable brakes and 6v electrics. It is an American design, and the first type of Ford V8 to be built in Britain.
