Alne or nothing

Basically, those are the options for my blip today - either the River Alne (this is one of a few photos of the river that I took this evening) - or nothing.

The River Alne takes its name from the Celtic word Alwine meaning bright or clear. When it's sunny you can easily see why it was called this, as it sparkles like jewels.

We took the dogs for a walk this evening, and followed the river along and through the wood. The river was lovely and clear, and really sparkling. Only a couple of days ago it was very high and extremely muddy.

This photo makes it look as though it's a torrent, but a few metres up stream it was flat calm, and you could see the reflections of all the surrounding trees in it.

It must be pretty clean water, as after it has flooded we can find lots of fresh water mussel shells all along the banks, and they will not survive in polluted water.
